That's why I mentioned the disruption crossing a line.
the conservatives think authorities shouldve cracked down more on blm and less on this and the liberals think vice versa
most ppl are judging validity of intervention based on their perceptions of the validity of the causes of the specific protests
this probably comes off annoyingly centrist but am i wrong
like this just doesnt actually seem true in either case and everythings still just down to partisan lines i.e. "do the protestors align with my beliefs"
which huber was getting at
dude BLM had a target getting burned down and some looting in LA (which happens still without BLM) its not comparable
also as a movement it was literally millions of people in hundreds of cities, not a few thousand assholes blocking bridges
its not even about the message they just want to cause as much chaos as possible
my point is not cracking down on the protest wasnt considered a good thing by conservatives so "letting people protest stuff is a boost to your image" just isnt true in general and all of these things still get judged in terms of "should they have cracked down more or less" on whether ppl agree with the protestors
imagine if trump said that he would freeze the bank accounts of anyone rioting during the BLM riots
they
are
not
comparable
idiot
also remember when the truckers got tear gassed and beaten? me either
p sure the official angle is that there was evidence of huge amounts of foreign money coming in and the frozen accounts are the ones that were receiving foreign money but 1. i havent dug deeply because idrc and 2. youre probably going to pick some narrative where this is still evidence of conspiracy and blah blah blah
pleaee don’t compare the RCMP to your disgusting police tyvm
imagine if he said they would be met with vicious dogs oh wait he did say that
imagine if federal police threw people into vans in portland oh wait they did
i will not reply to numeta posts any more
gonna reply to this one more time to reiterate that my comment had nothing to do with comparing the actual values or circumstances of the protests but simply comparing how they're judged to reinforce my point that protests and reactions to protests get judged entirely based on level of agreement with the underlying message
i agree partially but not entirely, I don’t think it’s as black and white as that
it certainly is a factor
plenty of people are capable of being objective, even if it is less and less each day
result of social media polarization brain rewiring or whatever
Wow you really think that the president wants us to get the vaccine?
