Canada is fucked lol

I don't believe authoritarianism is the best. I just realize that certain authoritarian things, like the state cracking down on protest, is a reality that will not change now. So the best thing you can do is throw your support behind the action going in your favor.

What is utopian is believing you can try and uphold some objective principle to avoid the negative consequences happening to your side. That's silly and ahistorical in this case.

not politically i don't think it's good socially or psychologically to encourage forcing adults to do something. i still believe everyone should do what's best for them and their community but i don't want to be sponsoring the state to babysit people to dumb to not get vaccinated or wear a seat belt. could probably argue for children and dependents but i also think it's near criminal their parents put their photos on the internet before they're a day old

the few people i've met who say mandatory civil or military service is good are also hella anti vax. i don't think anyone should be out here playing goalie (outside of violence) when we have so many resources and such a good standard of living to support diversity. even if it means some absolutely dumb shit gets popular sometimes

Yeah I think that's just wrong. If you wanna talk socially or psychologically, then we know people will make poor decisions that harm themselves and others/society. So we have to draw the line somewhere on certain issues and force things. I am much happier knowing I live in a word that does so.

no doubt i just think it's ultimately more harmful to them and society to just say no you can't do that you have to do this

So is drawing the line forcing people to receive something that is of little benefit to them or other people they interact with?

if it's something that can harm a stranger to the person (intoxicated driving/corruption etc) then yes that should be the state's responsibility to punish otherwise there would be vigilantes

sounds like you're just uncomfortable with it cause that "think" is doing a lot of lifting here.

You know I don't believe what you believe about the benefits, so don't expect me to try and answer that.

I never go hard on Huber about this like I would with insom because if I’m not incorrect I believe he had some negative experience with covid which is where his personal bias would come into play

You can believe what you want, the data is there by itself, I’ve posted it before

You can make your own conclusions about the data

Yes and I think the implications of it are different than what you think. I can't change your mind. Don't want to try. So there is no point in asking me that question. It assumes some shit we will never be on the same page about.

They’re really not different than what I think, you have your own narrative over the situation that is supported by every large media organization and every large corporation, in the world

yes i think people should have the freedom to make nigh objectively wrong decisions. im not here to play goalie

yns is a holocaust denier you don't have to earnestly reply to him

Objectively the vaccine does little to stop the spread past 2-3 months and we would require boosters every 3 months for the rest of civilizations history in order to quell a virus that kills 1% of people, 75% of which have minimum 4, that’s FOUR, co-occurring conditions that put them at risk of severe disease as well (admitted by CDC director recently)

I can be whatever you want me to be it doesn’t change that everything I’ve posted about covid I’ve backed up with sources and data from official government spokespeople and data

bruh i spent 5x the time at the dmv last year plowing through bullshit than i did getting my shots and booster

free btw while i had to pay to keep legally owning vehicles
