like I live on vancouver island and we have many beautiful beaches and so much coastline, that would all be ruined and take like 50-100 years to return to normal, perhaps never
also salmon fishing is still a really major food source for the native population, and also a big industry for our province
I dated a native girl from Port Alberni for a couple months and catching and canning salmon provided them with food for the entire year
not to mention tourism is like our biggest industry and things like whale watching would be gone. who would want to vacation at ‘beautiful british columbia’ when all our coastline is covered in oil
also this pipeline was just a shit deal for BC in general, we take on all of the risk and Alberta gets like 80% of the profit. That’s fucked
