Avoid breaking the D tile because you'll have to fight a hydra.

I don't think half of your tiles would have shit on them either, perhaps like 1/4th to 1/5th.

It would definitely be a first for an itch.io flash game to have something on that level, I'll give you that.

There is an intense amount of thematic good feeling to implementing it and accomplishing it. If it's executed well it's frankly gold.

If you want to pay some dumb malaysian to make pixel art of hydra you put it on the battle screen, put the D on the fucking tile in the dungeon.

Yeah I agree with you that it's definitely the right approach to take if you want encounters to be specific and known before hand, other than random shit rolls "fight a random enemy" tiles.

Just make the art serviceable and if the game is good you can swap out the art like the renowned Jonathan Blow did on Braid.

If you can think up a way that retains the idea of "traveling through a dungeon to the staircase" that retains some idea of "movement" to the staircase (and the staircase resides on the bejeweled board) I would be interested.

Drop the staircase -> if you end up with a situation where you don't think you can complete the bottom row, you can "shuffle" the board to some state where the staircase is somewhere new a few tiles above.

THEMATIC DESIRES:
A) retain some idea of "moving toward" the staircase; the motion of the bejeweled board should mimic the player exploring a dungeon level.
B) retain some idea of "leave when ready"; the player should make the decision as to when they're done "exploring" the level and want to go deeper.

Thematic desires : Increase the RPG Elements (Sword of +1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)

Optional secret boss fights.(Match 5 of this horizontally, secret gate opens.)

Babes And Erotic Imagery, adding of Waifus.

Every single piece of equipment you put on warps and changes the board, creating varied playstyle, this also engages with how enemies/arenas effect the board and the jewels as well. Creating a unique run every time if enough items/enemies/arenas are introduced
