Gamers Thread

u really think young kids who have the fortnite desktop icon are really gonna play around in a standalone market app??

unless you have to play fortnite through some launcher which is where the games are sold i guess

You guys dont understand a captive audience and underestimate how stupid kids can be

Dota players are all a captive audience

HEY KIDS HERES A COOL ZOMBIE FORTNITE SKIN IF U GO PLAY FREE ZOMBIE CLONE ON EPIC STORE

Steam did it with TF2 and Epic can do it with fortnite easily

Yeah it already has a launcher

Who knows how their store works but I assume they’re not stupid

yeah thats my point - it only works if when you click the desktop icon it brings up the launcher then you press play to get in

kids arent going to actively download something that requires effo- actually you may be onto something here

can u lend me $100 so i can use discord nitro for market research

Robert has it and hasnt played a single game with it

just uses it for the animated avatar feature

I mean just look at what steam did

It’s not complicated and epic has the right components to mimic it

Whether they will succeed in the long run is really up to how they execute but they are set up to be a real business threat to steam

Which is probably good in the long run. Fix ur shit Gabe

the difference is that steam had a giant backlog even when tf2 started implementing hats, epic games will have to hope that they attract a bunch of other game devs to sell their stuff there.

is the store even up now? i couldnt find anything on it

That’s where unreal engine and the developer perks come in

There’s no reason really for a bunch of devs to not throw their game up on that storefront. If it succeeds they’re exposing themselves to a massive audience of small children - every indie game developer’s wet dream. And if it fails it doesn’t really matter

once again i will remind people to get the twitch desktop app

  • brutal legend
  • darksiders
  • devil may cry hd collection
  • metal slug 1/2/3
  • pillars of eternity
  • psychonauts
  • soma
  • system shock
  • this war of mine
  • tyranny
  • walking dead
  • 50+ other shitty indie games

all for “”“free”""

Which darksiders

I’m not interested in playing any of those and/or own all of them and haven’t opened them

The thing about games that get given away on some platform is that they’re usually being given away on a bunch of platforms

So if u did 1 humble bundle like 7 years ago you already have everything twitch is offering

first one altho i never liked it, played like a boring zelda clone but had it’s moments

i guess idk i think people who are older and want to buy games are already tied to steam via cash on there or just general reputation, and young kids wont be buying games on there UNLESS it has a fortnite tie-in which epic games is not dumb enough to not take advantage of

since valve changed their rev model they seem about equal for devs

Yeah there’s a community aspect that keeps people in a certain system

But realize Epic has the opposite effect - captured the next generation of small gamers and if their storefront works they now have all those people in their own community system thing, which will do basically the same as steam (because it’s not the software - as long as the software works nobody cares, it’s the group of people that matter)
