Saddest. Thread. Ever.
The sound isn't relevant to placement but the word functions differently based on placement. And : just means a long vowel.
I can figure shit out about it from eliciting responses, yes. Especially easy considering most
Nigerians are anglophones. Nigeria has the 3rd/4th most fluent English speakers in the world.
If you just wanna find a new way to rip on black people, then that's boring. But if you genuinely can't grasp how people can document a language they do not speak, I would be happy to explain.
Hey Jones.
Don't go away mad.
Just go away.
i think where i was getting that is that the words like
kwa:
were used with colons in the uhm transitive sense
kalankwa:
and li:? was never used without its sound denotations so that's why i questioned that it might not be kalali vs kalali:?
you know, basic brain stuff
Linguistics Thread: Phase 2 -- Challenge Mode
Now that we've completed the 7 problems in the easy problem set, we may start to encounter problems that we can't solve right away. Points will work differently in this phase - I encourage everybody to collaborate to solve the problems and everybody who shows some sort of work will get a point when the problem is solved. Of course, the first person to submit a complete solution to a problem will still claim points for correct answers, as before.
We will also maintain multiple open problems in case one gets us stuck.
And I will participate in the thread as a solver instead of solving the problems before posting (mainly to cut down on time between problems being posted as I have been a bit too slow for you guys).
In Phase 2, we will maintain 2 open Medium-difficulty problems and 1 Hard at any given time. Solving part of a Medium grants 2 points and 3 for the Hard. As a Medium or Hard problem is solved, it will be replaced by a problem of corresponding difficulty so that there will always be 3 ongoing problems in the thread. Once we have solved all Mediums, we will enter Phase 3.
Phase 2 begins.
Sorry I don't get it. I just know the root morpheme here is li?. The ? doesn't involve any other grammatical distinction.
dont change the thread title moron
If y'all are okay with me doing these while you sleep, I'll be finishing those when I get home from work in a few hours.
noooooooooo
Yes of course
Maybe post your answers in spoiler so Nyte/Krazy can also solve and we can all try to come up with solutions over 24h or so
Everybody gets points for solving maybe first solve will take less priority
And hopefully at some point we hit something that you can't solve in just a few hours. This is still only the "Medium" problem set.
The "Hard" problem set: Rust
