Linguistics Olympiad

Attempted Japanese Chess since Huber will obviously come online and knock this out immediately (Japanese advantage)

Attempted solution of Takyoku Shogi

After checking against the official answers, I got 3 wrong -

1 is just a basic error that double-checking would catch

2 are related to a core mechanic that I didn't grasp. So for others who finish the first run at the solution to this, check the note about row 9 and 17 on mine and see if you can figure out this mechanic.

I wonder if this is a moment of Not Smart Enough/Dedicated Enough

Recent problems have had some trick where you can't just do the basic pass-over and submit the solution, there is some part you have to stop and think about

On each of them, I'm just like. Huh. That's weird - and then ignore it

If you're smart on these you notice that's part of the puzzle and spend the extra 10min to work it out

Anyway each takes 30min - 1h and I'm several hours past bedtime so - cya

I will be home from work in 3 hours.

If you mean his linguistic relativity ideas, no.

I know you thought we were intellectually "colonizing" Yoruba because you lack reading comprehension. Yoruba is already a well documented language by people all over the world including the Yoruba themselves. If you thought the class of grad students were documenting it, you misunderstood. A fieldwork class is just an exercise.

You're obsessed with inherent differences among humans like we can't account for something like an anglophone's inherent perception. You're clueless and I don't care if you just go "just griefing xD" a few posts later. Go away if this shit bothers you.

japanese chess?

1 error

i think i was changing the error

you kiss your mother with that mouth?

You added another error

Include the second column, it's part of the puzzle

well technically you can infer the second column with my first column but

Basically the complication in my (and your) solution is not understanding the language but understanding the nuances of the promotion rules of the game

We do have enough in the sample (vaguely I guess) to see that there is some extra rule here in specific cases

hmm i see what i did because i was reading my list and not the sheet, 1 is not changeable

yea your brain is finding the part you need to think about more but the part you changed is not right

what makes the stag different

right

i should be able to intuit something about this since i know u is a bit of a special character but is that really infer-able hmm

I really am a special character. Thank you
