I'm more impressed by the progress that suno has made in the last 2 years, just all of the generative stuff is blowing me away with the progress esp the video.
We want from deformed Will Smith eating spaghetti as a meme to this is a short period of time
I think in a few more years the tech is only going to get better because you have the best people (not me) fine tuning it and adding their own take into it.
AI isn't gonna replace all art, but it's gonna get integrated heavily and the skillset required to make good music is going to change. There is no disagreement here that AI is improving, it's not going to stay here forever, so just compare where it was last year to today, and try to imagine where it is going to be in 5 years.
Brother I can help you find music, I can help you find good music too. I've listened to so much great shit, and a lot of good people are making amazing art today. One of my favorite parts about nadota was @taste_my_rot showing me tons of labels and albums that totally changed my perspective on dance music.
I used to listen to a lot of radio, like these 2 sites are where I get a lot of music:
But I haven't sat down and listened for a prolonged period of time in ages, when I was going thru Suno explore, I went through so many tracks which is something I haven't done in years. I think you got some real negative bias towards this new tech so I don't think you can really listen to it with an open mind, but I really like the AI music, it's rough around the edges but it's got a lot of potential.... I can see it.
I saw an insurance ad the other day, with an AI Generated country song about how his grandpa got fired from an insurance firm after 30 years right before his retirement (lol), and then made his own insurance company to own his old company. With his grandson helping him build a website.
I then saw the same ad days later, replaced by a hip-hop track of the exact same story but in a rap. pretty funny
Unfortunately an LLM trained on majority pop crap will sound like garbage but suno is still kinda nutty. And even better, I don’t think it’s “replacing anyone” like art generation for visual artists
Like as an emo enjoyer it’s hard not to enjoy the emo-indie slop it’s capable of generating. It’s devoid of real soul but that’s the cost of generating an emo song about going to 7/11 on slurpee day and them being out of diabetes syrup or something.
