anyways i was chatting with a random dude from ghana the other day and he said he came to northern canada cuz there were signs in the streets in accra saying that northern canada is a good place to claim asylum cuz its sparsely populated and offers good services.
kinda blew my mind that there'd be billboards in west africa advertising the canadian arctic as a place to settle. the worlds a funny place
probably an immigration consultant that you pay to handle like visa applications that knows someone settled up here realistically but just an odd choice. there isn't a big ghanian community here.
People coming from overseas to Canada/NYC are essentially getting tricked. For the summer you can live in the street and scramble to find a job and then when winter comes you will literally die
Anybody I know from these countries who comes to boston and lives in a real home talks about how miserable it is to live here and how they can't handle the cold. I can't imagine being tricked to do this and end up living outdoors
Away from your family, away from your community, no real opportunities, no housing
I guess in Canada at least they are doing it legally
ugh winter is coming. im running in a road relay from skagway, alaska to whitehorse and i got one of the shitty legs in the relay that run overnight and so i'm gonna be doing like 25km at 4am or something on saturday morning and it's gonna be 6 celsius or something.
