Whenever you link something, most of the time the stuff at the end of the url past the link is just tracking parameters. In the above link the tracking part is utm_source (referrer) Reddit, which I don’t really care about but usually it’s something shittier

Yknow when you share a YouTube link and it has ?si=HgfThb64h at the end? That’s your Sharing Identifier. When people click your links it messes with your algorithm and theirs and tags you for this info on top. The igshid in ig links etc all work like that
This stuff is why when you share a Google search link, fb link etc you can delete most of the stuff that starts with the first ?. Because those long links are basically filled with sharing identifiers for them to data mine

Tracking is interesting the more ya learn about it. Facebook really has the revenue it does now because they were encouraging everyone with a website to put a pixel from the fb site on the company page and garnering so much data from that. They are a successful ad company because of memes like this, url shite etc

Well since you guys didn't take the bait of the link tracker I removed it, just trying to pump up those referral numbers up for reddit so it looks like they have more traffic than they actually do to raise up those gains of the 15 shares I own.

Hmm, now I'm curious. I am trying to get into X. I still hate the interface and UI, but it seems decent as a way to get news for crypto rn.
I checked my stock acct today and to my surprise I'm up like 30% YTD because I bought shares of QBTS when it was around $7, sold half at $18 and now it's like $40. Basically semiconductors/tech are my saving grace. TSM, QBTS, BABA, and NVTS FTW.
My crypto portfolio is absolutely shit. Absolutely. Shit. I want to dump it all and just move to stock, but I have too much FOMO trauma.

I have also been made to feel that I really should be using the bad social media website to avoid being left in the dark
Reddit does a good job of getting general news, tbh, but I just didn't want to resub to the old subs I had already left like cryptocurrency and wallstreetbets, it's basically equivalent to turning on the firehouse of information versus what my hope is with X that I can try to just follow the news from a few people who actually know what they're talking about and cite sources, but the X algorithm is so stupid, it keeps putting garbage in my feed to distract me.
This isn't me saying I'm gonna move to X, but I am gonna give it a legit second attempt to get back into the website and I am only interacting through my laptop/desktop, I still find it miserable to navigate, search, post, edit on the mobile app, oh yea and the fact that Elon not only gets money from ad revenue + data mining users, but also charges you to use the website for stupid things like editing your post is really just the slap in the face and enshittification that I despite and why I don't wanna use the place, I feel like X users are the worst kind of people who are living in a constant state of denial.
