it isnt a change. this happens with words all the time. when we add a word to our lexicon, it is rarely because we looked it up in the dictionary. when folks like yourself added racism to your lexicon, you took it took mean something not so systemic and not so related to a specific system of oppression. when other folks that are victims of that system added racism to their lexicon, they understandably took it to mean just that.
no one is trying to change a definition. they are just reconciling this difference.
At most of the bigger horse facilities I’ve worked at my co workers have been fairly racist, and definitely sexist. That’s my (however limited) experience with Mexican immigrants, specifically. Some notable differences with people I’ve worked with who were from El Salvador or Ecuador.
