my favorite part of dungeon mastering is definitely mapping. i really enjoy constructing areas that can feel both real or lived in while providing opportunities to use the environment for stealth, tactics, etc
the modules wotc sells are sometimes ok but you have to do a lot of work to make any of it feel like an actual living world. not once have i seen an outhouse or bathroom in a wotc module but hey they're just trying to scrape more bucks off the zoomer normies who use it to express their fursonas.
