They still scrape when location services are turned on, even when you’re not using their maps

Yeah I meant this in my second statement. there’s just no reason to turn on location services unless you are using maps or something similar, and even then the offline map apps seem to be good enough if theres enough WiFi signals around when you actually need an accurate reading of your location
I just realized they still have that “shake your device to send Google your information” feature and you have to turn it off in Maps, I think that must be the most cancerous way to request your users infos

Google phones home your location using WiFi signals too.
They phone home regardless. There’s no way to turn it off. They cache it all if you don’t have internet signals, then send it at the first opportunity

Nope. They grab cell tower stuff too. It used to be worse, getting down into the actual cell you were in, but there was a court that ruled they couldn’t do that so now they just send back the tower
I thought they removed this and it might be off by default now but I remember when it was on by default
