Sorry I play on a SNES mini but I will ask around.
My metroid bros recommend snes9x as an easy to set up emulator for all SNES games.

yeah just get a real emulator, no ping and never know when the online ones crash or if your connection has a hick-up

me and kittens are streamer buddies. also i've played a few metroidvania games they are quite cool

With no spoilers, it will be hard. But with your experience with similar games, you should have no problems.
