Play it out. If mafia want to cancel the game and play a different setup, they can resign.

Looked at some of these to see what the cause was (in the setup of the long game)
These are all a little over a year long with setups that probably should not take that long, but they have a ton of players and night actions happening, roles switching, subs in and out, I guess it just becomes very complex and takes a lot of time. And some of them have multiple scum factions
This one is theoretically longer-running than that due to its unique mechanics. So I think we have a pretty good chance of claiming the record for all-time longest mafia game if we can stick this one out for more than a year. The main risk is people trying to sub out, as we don't have other people on the forum to sub in to replace anyone. But most of us have been on this forum for like 6 years so sticking it out for 1 more year or so to get the official record shouldn't be a big issue.

If it takes 6 months missing a single weekend would amount to missing very little.
Well fortunately you can always just kill yourself as a game mechanic.
