Summit 9 - Summer 2018

EG seems to have storm’s number

Yeah I don’t know whats going on. MSS is playing well, SVG is getting caught out with Sneyking, Yawar isn’t getting enough recovery space

they really should have had VP, LGD, and Newbee or Serenity here too. This tournament had so much parity I’m worried about TI lol

why do fanatic games always go so long?

classic pie/envy shit

envy just spent all his time pushing a lane while the rest of his team was teamfighting in the enemy base

Universe 12-0-15. Not a single death. So good.

If LDI picks a early power lineup they’d 100% win. They were so close to winning this game early on and they let Fnatic drag it out

I agree. They could have done it several times, but chickened out and went back to farm.

I was so excited last series thinking Universe would be put on Sniper. Uni should start getting really greedy offlaners like that

Fnatic and LDI are creating this insane feeding ouroborous

Honestly LDI is way too blind on the map and Fnatic is way too anal retentive about starting plays and it’s one of the most frustrating games (if not matchups) of DotA ever

Fnatic win game 2.

who the fuck enjoys these cluster fuck “casts” where its just ‘popular’ people sitting there shooting the shit talking about anything but the game

its like made for people who dont have friends but want to pretend tha they have friends. like u can sit there and laugh at BSj and grants jokes and pretend ur BFFs with them and gonna down a brewski before watches some dotes hehe with them

I like the professional players’ takes on other teams’ movements but I could care less what swindle/bulba/OD/bsj thinks about a game

I feel like it’s preferable to having a shoutcaster pretend the game’s being aired on radio and an analyst explaining who’s who and what’s right/wrong during a game. You’re going to be watching these games anyway so there’s not too much use for someone doing perfect play by play like a blind broadcast

even pros to other pros have such distorted views of what other teams are tryign to do that honestly short snippets of “this is good vs this is bad” even if its coming from someone super ownage seems pretty worthless to me. if it was someone good going in depth and in more detail id agree but for the most part the ‘useful’ content just seems like watered down hot takes so not actually that interesting or useful

idk I think the shooting the shit aspect is a lot more interesting that some serious, valid analysis. Not to say the pro players’ takes are of more value but it’s really reassuring for me to see them get things wrong. Even the people playing the game at the highest level aren’t too great at predicting outcomes or remaining confident in their craft.

I feel like esports (and to a greater degree, sports) is such an untapped market for psychology and real scrutiny on how players interact with teammates and the game. I get nothing out of the social flaming/ribbing everyone gives one another but I really do like it when a player notices something in a game that isn’t the obvious stuff being shoutcasted.

maybe the difference is that ive played a ton with people at the highest caliber and dont really respect the opinions of BSJs and BSJ tier people (nothing against them or like im superior or some shit) so i dont feel fulfilled in any way from listening to them talk even when its game realization stuff. and from what ive seen the other actual players from the tourny being involved in the casts have been mostly minimal too.

i like that post and opinion though and if u enjoy it i dont wnna take away from that and im glad ur enjoying it. just not my cup of tea

I think both views are good, but BTS is great for the different format.

Thanks man. At some points couch SumaiL was right (and contrary to the everybody else on the couch, who relented) about a players movements but then would ask Grant or Jack or someone about CM talents. I think it’s a really reassuring aspect to the game that there is no master, no formulaic approach to the game, everything being explored.
