anyways i was chatting with a random dude from ghana the other day and he said he came to northern canada cuz there were signs in the streets in accra saying that northern canada is a good place to claim asylum cuz its sparsely populated and offers good services.
kinda blew my mind that there'd be billboards in west africa advertising the canadian arctic as a place to settle. the worlds a funny place
probably an immigration consultant that you pay to handle like visa applications that knows someone settled up here realistically but just an odd choice. there isn't a big ghanian community here.
People coming from overseas to Canada/NYC are essentially getting tricked. For the summer you can live in the street and scramble to find a job and then when winter comes you will literally die
Anybody I know from these countries who comes to boston and lives in a real home talks about how miserable it is to live here and how they can't handle the cold. I can't imagine being tricked to do this and end up living outdoors
Away from your family, away from your community, no real opportunities, no housing
I guess in Canada at least they are doing it legally
