It was a genius thread idea. There's nothing people on the internet love discussing more than Voter Thread 2024

MATURIY LEVEL : ELEMENTARY

Returning to this interview now

It's actually a great discussion. Joe is a great stand-in for the "everyman" of America. He says some stupid things. Instead of trying to stop him, Bernie lets him talk, doesn't challenge him or make it weird (also doesn't agree for example when he says global warming is a hoax and the earth is getting colder, just reroutes the conversation)

Actually in all of this I am very impressed with Bernie - I think he is a sharp guy. I timestamped this clip at a particular time where he sets up his next topic by actually asking Joe "Why?" about a subject and letting him run with it for some time before he eventually arrives exactly where Bernie wanted him and Bernie launches into his proposed solution

I suppose it could have been set up beforehand (all the TV talk shows do this) but it felt very genuine and it's interesting how bernie builds consensus in the conversation and makes Joe an active part of it rather than just creating a platform for his political campaign.

Bernie Sanders was actually the sort of candidate we would like leading the country. Even if he is a crazy communist.

He's even got Joe saying "Human" without the H lmao

One thing he's wrong about though is the impact of AI

Bernie jumps very quickly from "look at the power of AI" to "robots are going to take over all the factories" - these are two completely different areas of technology and rapid advancements in AI are not necessarily going to translate into rapid advancements in robotics

And his vision of an ideal future unfortunately sounds like something out of an Ayn Rand novel

The reality is robots did not destroy hands-on work (factories) - outsourcing and globalization did. It's already happened. There is no factory making cars in rural vermont, worrying about robots taking that nonexistent job is sci-fi nonsense on multiple levels

The people who are actually going to be displaced by AI are the people who work on computers all day. the PMC. The email-senders and coders and thought leaders and powerpoint generators - and while we all are ready to cheer for the downfall of these people (even though we are, mostly, these people) it is actually some reason for concern because this is the bulk of people (and bulk of the voting populace) in the US.

So if you're concerned about AI taking jobs, you should be talking about Sandy the legal assistant or something, not Ralph the Auto Worker.

But at the end of the day it probably won't matter because I believe more in the Thiel vision of technology than the Bernie one (the jobs will change but there will still be jobs)

Your political project failed dude. It's OVER. It's 2025 -- Bernie Sanders SUCKS

It's 2025 and people are still posting "what if we had Bernie Sanders as president"

If you can't tell, we were having a serious political discussion in this thread.

A seriously gay political discussion.

My account gets put on hold and there's like 10 posts in a row where Hype and Dan are pinballing some insane "trump voter masculinity" posts over and over again

Sick slop video posted from big ass

This guy is still mad about being called out for being a twitch viewer.

The most thought Dan puts it into "masculinity" is right before he decides whether he's going to have sex with him or not
