I'll admit you're a better gambler than me. But are you a better gambler than my bot? Idk. My trade bot is netting +Pl consistently now and it hasn't been tuned much.
First record is in-sample on training, the rest are all out sample in a different year, so a pretty good improvement from earlier (All of the P/L is outperforming in comparison with buy and hold of the same asset during the same time period too). I am still enhancing the metrics and reporting I am getting back but I want to also use a grid search or optimizer because trying to hand tune all of the parameters like window size and which indicators to add/remove to measure the model are taking too much time and feels like just bullshit voodoo turning knobs with no real sense of progression, just throwing shit to see what sticks to I think it will be a lot more efficient to automate that away.
But it isn't built to do things like gamble in meme coins. You're a combination of smart and lucky to get rich from the meme coins and take profits rather than losing it all holding like I did.
My problem has always been not taking profit and being too greedy, I either am too not greedy and scared or too greedy and fearless but I think you have a nice balance based on your description of using stop losses and fractional trading instead of doing all in or out like I do sometimes when I get impatient and/or excited / emotional.
Hence why I believe my bot will work, my system is good, my understanding and ability to make decisions when I have time to think is good but my self control when I am under stress and abiltuy to make good judgements consistently is not.

Actually, what I wanted to do was to start with the simple thing, but I actually want to create a trade bot which will identify moments before a positive or negative breakout will occur for an asset like basically one of those big days you only see maybe 1-4 times a year, I was hoping to be able to have the model identify these events with a decent % success rate in order to purchase short term options OTM which would potentially print 20-30x their purchase value, so you basically just monitor highly liquid options markets like CL,ES etc, and then wait for the bot to notify you that a breakout looks like it is likely to occur and purchase near worthless options to get ultra high leverage/exposure. It's very degenerate and risky but if it works it will be very profitable, I know it sounds a bit crazy and stupid, but because it is so high risk, it is very unlikely big players are doing something so insane when they have access to much safer resources and strategies.
Just don’t waste too much money on it
Like probably ignore the first several returns and see the anticipated capital to really know if you’ve found anything, or atleast a minimal investment with some extrapolated returns
