Actually the reason the Egyptian government (I live in Egypt) isn't taking Palestinians is because it would ruin the approval rating for the president if he abandons the Islamic Cause.
If the government agrees to surrender Gaza, it means that they have abandoned Islam entirely, which would surely cause a resurgence in Islamist movements.
