yeah true, if you're on some giga bullish scenario btc could flip gold one day, but I think the mc of gold has contributions from jewelry and electronics industries. gold isn't at 21T just because of it being a store of value. Not really sure, I will still continue to hold btc for the long term as I think even if it doesn't continue having insane gains it will bare minimum beat inflation on average even including volatile years.
my opinion you either buy btc or xmr if you want to buy crypto to hold, either one you can't really go wrong. xmr has it rough because of delistings and pressure from regulators but there is way more upside because the mc is at 5B right now. if it breaks top10 crypto by mc you're at a 300% gain right there. higher risk higher reward type of thing, btc seems like the safer bet long term with less potential upside

Xmr is never gonna become big because governments can shut it down whenever and make it impossible to use. It's trending in that direction which is why I stopped holding it. Xmr is worthless if you can't exchange it anywhere for anything.

I don’t know where you got this idea from. That’s like saying governments can shut down PGP, or TOR, or BitTorrent. The code is all out there open source all people need to do is host nodes and contribute to mining to secure the network. There is no centralized server to shut down and the larger the network gets the harder it is to shut down. Same reasons why Bitcoin would be very hard to shut down but even more so as they purposely designed the PoW system to be relatively unprofitable for miners meaning instead of large mining companies running ASICs you have dudes mining it on their computers around the world making it more decentralized than Bitcoin.
It’s up like 100% past year? To be fair a lot of that was from the big jumped caused by the btc being stolen and swapped to xmr but it’s not anywhere close to trending to 0. After binance delisting it traded flat for awhile but definitely not headed to 0.
To your other point you can just exchange it for ltc or btc through atomic swaps which are permission-less and non custodial meaning no CEX needed and then go sell that btc or ltc on an exchange. Your own ignorance does not mean it cannot be exchanged “anywhere for anything” it’s really pretty simple and requires like one step above re tarded boomer to do
