There's a reason the "email job" stereotype exists and it isn't from public sector employees
The country has essentially moved to a form of soft socialism (especially during/after the pandemic) where people can be employed doing nothing and the more of them you have working for you, the better you look - whole companies showing "growth" by spending and wasting as much money as possible and a whole economy pinned up on myths like "2 billion pageviews daily on Facebook translates into actual economic value generation via purchases from ad click-through" - Every piece of which is most likely completely false (the pageviews fluffed, the impact of advertising overstated, the "growth" meaningful in any way)
But this leads to an interesting argument from this statement -
- that the government should essentially import as many Hondurans as possible and give them all government jobs. By the flawed metrics being used this would lead to essentially permanent and long-running "growth" as long as we could continue importing people and giving them fake jobs and funding it with the government's seemingly infinite reserves of tax money and debt
Of course in the long-run it would lead to the total failure of our institutions and eventual collapse of society but isn't that what's already happening? Isn't this whole made-up scenario exactly what is already happening in the U.S. just with our own citizens?
I don't see any reason that we can't do for Brown Hondurans what we are already doing for White Women with Psychology Degrees in this country - because I am not a Racist.
And because they are not Racists they can be forced to go along with it too.
