The burden of proof would be on your end not theirs, the logic you're presenting gives credence to much stupider "theories". The world is plenty surreal as is, you are free to believe what you choose, sure. Though that doesn't make you equally justified in doing so. I'm not saying one hundred percent murder or suicide but the false equivalence that all opinions are equal is troublesome to say the least.
People tend to take skepticism to it's extreme and go from questioning the proposed narrative to working from the assumption it's false. Then stop being skeptical of evidence that supports their preconceptions.
