Somehow in the face of the AI revolution Thiel's spiel rings especially hollow. You're sitting there saying nothing new is happening and I'm getting bored & about to go back to doing things that will change the world (updating my AI to generate code & open PRs directly from the descriptions I enter in JIRA tickets)
Thiel's a good example of why a dog shouldn't catch the cars it chases. Now that he has had 4 years of Trump and now a second 4 with Vance in the copilot seat and doesn't really have much new stuff to say, his points just feel a little silly.
He was interesting before as an outsider contrarian voice. You can't just keep being an outsider contrarian once you're in the driver's seat, it doesn't work. It's the mark of a stupid person actually - unable to update the context and views. This was the time for him to take up the mantle of Philosopher King, not whine to some guy on NYT about the same shit he's been whining about his whole public life.
Things are happening now but he's still preaching "Nothing is happening." It's so easy to sit on the outside of everything saying "Nothing Interesting Ever Happens" until suddenly something interesting does happen and your whole worldview is shattered. Unless you're Thiel and then you just keep having the same worldview and keep showing up on podcasts saying the same thing while the world moves on.

When you don't get what you want you act out/try to be more irritating so someone will capitulate
However it is not truly fulfilling - when you sign off to go to sleep you don't feel good
The reason is that your life is not full enough. You need to start by reading The Alchemist. Then you need to pick up dance. Move to a city with lots of young professionals. Start working really hard on something. Before you know it you will have more things to do than you have time for and people asking constantly for your social attention (like you do now for mine).
Once you reach this point, your main reason for posting online will just be to read and share your thoughts on interesting things, and you can just be yourself and stop being so weird and annoying all the time.
