okay then you shouldnt have given an example in the first place...
You asked for one. He gave it and asked you a question about it which you couldn't answer because you refuse to even lift a finger to learn something
Thereās a certain level of brain strength one needs to think about why worth matters when determining the moral weight of an action and your brain said nah Iām good let me just use some different words to say worth
I don't get how he believes he can talk so authoritatively in light of shit like this
Hint: the reason itād be preferable in this context is because you think there would be less loss of value to kill x over y
Which, is, worth
This still geeks me given the way the wikipedia article was laid out lmao
Posting like heās a game mvp or some shit when he got lynched day 1 as scum
Wikipedia is good at what they do man itās amazing
It's all grad students. The phil articles are very fucking good. The math and physics ones are not really accessible at all unless you've gotten an undergrad degree in the field at the very least
Yeah I tried to look up some of the shit yāall were posting about earlier but I noped outta there
But, if you have, they're really useful and really well done. Just not really useful for the common person, but I also don't think that you can really make that kind of article accessible. The physics ones usually say that it's a formal article on it and links to a friendly overview, but I don't think you can do it for math at all. It's impossible to motivate the concept or explain it at all without having the prerequisite mathematical knowledge
Howās this guy read Wittgenstein but canāt read one section in a Wikipedia article?
I think he sparknotesād it
You should actually read the article on interpretations of quantum mechanics. Kanye's PhD is in philosophy of science and I've started getting really into it the past few years because of our conversations
ok im behind but the best summary for what metaethics is to me is to put names to all possible viewpoints one could have on ethics and sometimes compare them to each other
... this is circular. okay, suppose the answer to those questions constitutes an assessment of value lost / worth. then you ask why i am considering value lost / worth. isnt this the same question as ranking from evilness to goodness? evil things have negative worth.
whoa i forgot kanye existed until just now thats trippy
let's examine your language hbotz.
"apparently i failed" flippant description of someone elses' perspective
"to me it seems" centralizing you and using a respectful word "seems", into an accusatory "you didn't explain it clearly"
i still believe this language represents your mentality that these clarifications and definitions and concepts are owed to you, of others, thus demonstrating little personal motivation to understand. or maybe this is another way of saying that you have a social sense of entitlement (ego) and you engage others in a way that subtly(not so subtly) has the bias that you are right even when you are less informed.
yea theres a bit of tone of talking down in everything hbotz says its part of the irritation for sure
Yeah, I followed someone on Twitter who's doing his PhD in interpretations of quantum mechanics who was friends with him from meeting at some conferences and I recognized his name and started talking to him there. It was the most bizarre coincidence. Then at NeurIPS in December, I met someone else who's advisor kanye did research with. Small world
well, did you mean to reference intuition at large and common sense? that's the way i took it.
