Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations book commentary

I asked why you are evaluating worth in determining the differences in goodness or evilness in those actions

Why does worth matter to moral judgment

well, then i misunderstood. because as stated i didnt think of moralities that didnt have isomorphic structure.

If you don’t have want to think about it don’t think about it but don’t be surprised when people call you an absolute dipshit

Stop using the word isomorphic. You're embarrassing yourself

No one said they had to be the same
All I’m asking about is why you chose to use the framework you did for determining the moral value of those actions in comparison to one another and why that framework is relevant

Ye I miss kanye snaps

if you replace all the occurences of the word worth with the alternative X to Y comparison sentence you get a moral system with the same structure in different words. i was trying to use worth as an abbreviation for that. but maybe morality doesnt necessarily need to make sense under closure.

I also miss Cactus snaps. But I was really glad to reconnect with kanye and start talking frequently again. He's insanely smart and I feel like I get something out of my conversations with him

hbotz

how does worth apply to morality?

ok then my answer is because i am not aware of other frameworks for ranking most evil to leat evil.

why do you need to be aware of any frameworks?

Hey, dipshit, isomorphisms are only meaningful when content doesn't matter. Two theories can be structurally the same but reach far different conclusions because their content is different. Your formulation wasn't strictly isomorphic: it was equivalent. You didn't change the structure or content

maybe someone might assert “you should prefer to kill an adult over a baby”. i shortened this to “a baby is worth more than an adult” out of convenience. but maybe there are moralities where there arent consistent statements and therefore worth doesnt make sense.

why would someone assert that?

No, claims of value are different from prescriptive claims.

well, some people might think babies are innocent and adults are sinful. also in practice there exists a common principle “save women and children first” which some people believe in.

why do they believe in that?

ok well the claim to value leads to the prescriptive principles i was going for so i used it since it shortens what i wanted to type. maybe it is confusing. sorry.

Ripping a fat j and absolutely fucking geeking at this shit. Interacting with hbotz is an absolutely surreal experience
