Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations book commentary

convinced to change their morality to the one you are telling them.

what system?

society.

what is the means by which you arrive at morality?

None. For me, the truth value of most things either doesn't exist or surfaces nothing useful. Philosophy is rhe most interesting when it is the domain of creating concepts and examining those concepts and how they allow us to view the world. Evaluating whether something is true is either impossible or figuring out whether it is true doesn't create novel, interesting things.

Rather than answering questions such as those about truth-values, philosophy should focus on problematization and the selection of problems that force us to create concepts that are both novel and interesting.

It’s not about not wanting to talk about it

You made a claim about ethics
Then started talking about laws
Laws which include that thing about ethics you want

There was no transition and without that transition it seems like you are hinting that the only ethical system for you is laws

its personal to each person and a result of biological and social factors.

how is that possible?

So you don’t agree with iaafr earlier post that science lies under the umbrella of philosophy

we dont necessarily have the same definition of laws. you seem to be talking about rules you expect people to follow. maybe i am wrong. you can just ignore me, if you like.

Although some moral nihilists claim there are no true moral judgments, I lean towards the no moral facts, so moral judgments are never true nor false.

rules? rules for what

thats how it is. there are lots of people with different moralities. their moralities are shaped by their genetics and cirucmstsnces.

rules in society.

@nyte thoughts?

how do you know this?

i think he's becoming mad tbh

you can ask a lot of people about their moralities and get differing results.

That depends on what you mean when you say science. The practice of designing experiments, carrying them out, etc. is an application of philosophy. The creation of scientific theories is philosophy

are they different? how do you know?
