The reason actual positive, much needed and broadly popular reforms of failing systems (which would normally be led by a progressive political party) don’t happen in the U.S. is the party that nominally is supposed to be driving them (the supposed leftist party) has actually been working to subvert them
The reason Trump gets elected is that this has been vastly unpopular
And this is ultimately by design - if your aim as the DNC chair is to make sure true progressive reform dies in the cradle, putting up an unelectable candidate and getting Trump elected is actually a great strategic victory
