Because whatever currency alternative they have on hand isn't nearly as resilient in these troubled markets. Basically you'd be able to negotiate better deals by not paying people with shitdollars

i mean all this stuff is supply and demand adn there is a lot of demand + little supply for esports pay so he has the leverage to do what he wants. the players he uses are non american and have more immediate needs to spend on so their local currency is fine and sensible.
the stuff im talking about is more significant when you're talking about macroecon like POV you're <european or asian country> and you're trying to trade <money> for <goods or services>. Your economy hasn't been doing so hot lately -- the countries you're trying to trade with don't want to hold your country's dollar.
This country you'd be trading with is also going to turn around and trade <money> for <goods or services>, but maybe not for a while. So if they're gonna accept foreign currency from you They're not going to want to hold onto some funny money that's been going down the drain like the ruble. If it's all you can offer you aren't going to get a good deal out of them.
