idk if i wrote out the rules clearly enough but the best possible day2 start for scum with 12+4day1 is 7vs4 at day2 since they diddle 2 guys total, kill 2 best friends total and day1 had a town lynch. day2 would start 7vs4. pretty unlikely though.

you have to understand that when a townie loses his partner he’s no longer in the pool of paired players. if the guy calling for lynches is obvious about it then both mafia pairs know not to guess him when they do the night kill. if in day1 both priest pairs kill 1 unique guy and can’t guess the partner then 2 townies will have an id on 1 unique mafia. if they are obvious about it during the day then on night 2 the pool to pick a best friend from in the kills has only a size of 8 (from 12 - 2kills - 2lynches). so from night 1 the chance for a doublekill is rolled twice at 1/10 for each pair (mafia pairs don’t talk to eachother), and then at night 2 is rolled twice again at 1/8.

So I had a look at the setup and at some of the constructive criticisms people have posted.

The first thing I will say is I think this fits the rule of “too complicated to be broken”

I do think you guys are maybe missing the fact that priests flip as green. The night kill is not a 1v1 trade.

That said, I will specifically ask @sdadasdas and others what you would change in order to make it balanced in your eyes.

I think if we do make suggestions, we have to be careful to preserve the game theme and style. This means the protective class suggestion to draw out NKs is not a very good one. The game is built on a partner system. It’s about working with your partner to find other partners while also not getting diddled.

A change I would suggest is just adding more mechanics so it gets more confusing

  1. make it so if one scum partner dies, the solo partner can use both the guess mechanic and a NK at night
  2. instead of killing the guessed teammate, make him join the scum team he was successfully guessed from, similar to how child abuse victims often later become child abusers.

Create a fake town who clearly looks like a pure boy to all but is in fact an asset to the scum teams, feeding them fresh victims in order to protect himself.

This last one I haven’t thought about how it fits into the game - just thinking about what makes sense in the lore.

I should also mention that encrypted messages are cheating and have always been cheating

This is an obvious way to break this game but it’s also true that it wasn’t allowed before and people just never said anything because it was funny and quirky

You can breadcrumb and create secret messages but all posts must be in english and creating these computer encrypted sha-256 things is defiant to the spirit of the game

I think you didn't read what we wrote then.

The only thing that could counter what Klaze and I said is what Tree said in response; mafia get more chance to doublekill - but I personally don’t think it’s enough to counteract every town lynch being a 50% chance to kill mafia

It’s not possible to find out if this setup is town or mafia sided without a simulation.

Maybe for experimental setups we can shorten day/night cycles so it is less of a time investment for people and they don’t feel as bad about it if it doesn’t work out

Why would we play as lab rats? There is no playing involved - you just lynch the mathematically optimal target and go next day.
