That's 5.

"If we were going to have" is future tense.
We aren't starting the game with 6, nor with 5 - we are waiting for more players regardless.
The current number of signed players has no impact on who is going to sign in the future.

I sign based on who is playing.
So yes it matters.
Let's see if we can get this signup thread to beat the old record of 576 posts without a game.

If everyone signs based on who is playing, then there who will sign first?
It's illogical and insulting to assume people act that way, and it's selfish and predatory to act that way yourself.

False argument.
Anyone can sign, and also unsign.

Be the change you want to see.
If all players are waiting on others to sign, the signups are deadlocked.

You are making the signup process so unpleasant that no one wants to sign.
Don't you get that? Are your social skills so underdeveloped?

What signup process? I have nothing to do with the signup process or hosting of the game.
It's automated using mafiabot.

The question is this:
Do you want to really play a game, or do you want to chase players away?

Obviously I want to play mafia. If I didn't want to play I wouldn't have signed.
I've wanted to play mafia for the last week, but it was neglected and sabotaged by @SOPHIE and now nobody else wants to play period.
Everyone lost interest because it's almost 2 weeks now without a mafia game.

Chatting with you is like chatting with a really bad AI Turing test bot.

And I am not chasing players away, I just can't have a clear conscious supporting an alcoholic/addict's habits.

You just don't understand why people don't want to play with you.
And you never will.

Nobody has expressed anything resembling that.

Then why isn't anyone signing?

Plus the fact that this game is an unknown setup hosted by a known troll.
Last game had 13 signs because it was a very well known and trusted setup (SignalsByPassionForTrains), hosted by a "Supposedly" trusted admin (who turned out to care less about this site than Jones or Toprak).
