Their global positions change, but their relative orientation between each other must remain constant (within a margin) for the Phantom Assassin to not catch sight of the Axe. In one the PA does encircle the axe, in the other no significant change occurs. Both are right, but also wrong. Further research into this is necessary.
Only one of these perspectives are relevant to the matter at hand.
