Overpopulation is pushed by rich people who have 10+ children and another 20 out of wedlock and 40 grand kids on to middle class hardworking men and women.
Theoretically it is impossible to over populate as long as death is real. There is more than enough land and plenty to build. More than enough food and livestock and resources. As long as you live one with nature and plant as you cut, sow as you reap, and replace what you take in life you will never run out, humans have been sustaining the earth without big science for thousands on thousands of years.
The nuclear family cannot lead to over population because all it is, is you replacing your wife, and yourself via a son and daughter. Then their grandchildren replace you. The cycle continues, ebbing and flowing perfectly.
