Bug

Can you guys get a room and and stop shitting up this thread?

Idk maybe asoul should stop demeaning me when I'm being perfectly polite with him if he doesn't know what he's talking about. Then the thread wouldn't have to be shit up. Regardless, at least I exposed a big and hopefully educated some people on how client-server interactions should work

I have no problems with your posts. It's the back and forth that shits up the thread.

Try again when kkat goes to bed mazzy star

It seems like it's a client side issue. Couldn't replicate on desktop, but still happens on mobile. Don't know why the client is allowed to repeat requests before the server has acknowledged the connection: very poor design

Looking at the logs, if you leave up a tab for namafia in your browser, it continues to refresh all the time. Discourse has a feature that allows you to move from mobile to desktop and vice versa while writing a post and then post it from the other.

So, what I think is happening is you hit reply on mobile, then the connection times out. Since discourse automatically saves the draft while you hit reply, upon reconnect it sends the draft post and the request to post it to desktop as well. So it gets sent from both desktop and mobile at the same time. I didn't have preserve logs on today, but I'll have them start dumping to a file so I can verify if the same request to post is being made on mobile and desktop when the connection gets reestablished.

Lol the official Discourse "Who's Online" plugin is broken. Found this in the console logs:

"Deprecation notice: Use specific @ember/* imports instead of ember (deprecated since Discourse 2.4.0) (removal in Discourse 2.5.0)"

And then this in the code for the plugin lmao

lmfao

hey maybe ill make a PR thats a free greenbox on gh

There's actually a shitload of things still using Ember.Component you could submit PRs to change

lmfao im on it

btw how much have you done with solidity?

how can we use crypto to make the stream more secure and harder to get taken out

401 error on clicking the refresh button for the sidebar (the title)

@Roragok apologizing for being a non-team player when you said that we were on the same team, I was originally opposed to it but seeing Kyle's vigor towards moderating well and improving really turned me around. I shoulda been on your team from the beginning and tried to reach out to you instead of beefing publicly

To try and make amends I've been trying to help staff around so you don't have to, including bumping Town Hall, but I think you should probably return to it and reaffirm the compromise we've seem to come to*, given how much i talked you up to everyone about how you are Leader and are/should be final say in everything. I got faith in your decision making and want to help you do the best you can here, not to try and make this site a profitable reality or anything, but to just ensure that this community keeps running forever. It's hard to read between the lines sometimes but I can tell that basically all of our regulars love this site and dunno what they'd do without it, and I'm probably in that group as much as I hate to admit it

*as far as I understand it said compromise is "we're working on improving our moderator ability/tactics (sorry for moderation rocking), we're asking you to have input on the rules (see kyles thread, town hall), and in return we would like you guys to be more adherent to the rules that we have now or come up with later and help keep others within those guidelines. With that we can ensure the goy's continued demise and that our community continues to live and grow and (hopefully) remains a positive impact on every regular's life"

I would like to make the suggestion that all users (including staff) be allowed to be greyboxed and I don't mean that as an insult I just noticed it wasn't possible to do on discourse and think it would be better if it were the case

I'd also like to make the suggestion that epok changing people's titles to insult them is toxic and he shouldn't do that

Not implementing anything that requires programming and is nothing more than a nicety -- there are much better priorities regarding programming, like half the plugins we use using something that Discourse is deprecating (actual case)
