Maybe it wasn’t you and I can’t be bothered to scroll up to see who it was
But why do you think your experiences as a young white man growing up in the hood is relevant to a discussion on systemic racism
Maybe it wasn’t you and I can’t be bothered to scroll up to see who it was
But why do you think your experiences as a young white man growing up in the hood is relevant to a discussion on systemic racism
Because it’s a lived experience from someone who grew up in the part of society claimed to be effected by systemic racism
But you existing among these individuals does not mean you lived the same experience or even saw the world in the same way
Because at the end of the day you are white
Right so I was just destined to be more advantaged than my peers and none of my personal choices mattered and I have nothing in common with any of the people I grew up with. Because I’m white and will always be white
I didn’t say all of that. This bogeyman of a phrase “systemic racism” comes pre loaded with all these different connotations for you re: personal choice and inherent advantages.
For black folks “systemic racism” comes pre loaded with court precedent and discrimination and literal actual factual slavery
So like yeah bro, you are white
Also you are talking with someone that doesn’t believe in free will so while that’s a different conversation i feel it is relevant to communicate
Please tell me more about your perspective and understanding of the struggles of black people living in ghettos and in poverty. The color of your skin just grants you the ability to have such a great perspective and understanding of these things
It’s not my job to tell you about my perspective when there are so many others out there who have shared theirs
Do some research and then maybe I’ll share with you a story or two
Make it a bit less one sided you know
Yeah tell me more about how you persevered through systemic racism to have two parents who owned a business (or multiple), and through all odds you fought against the evil YT people trying to hold you down to get a football scholarship to an Ivy League
Is the answer, blame white people?
LBJ, a complete success story within the black community, despite being conspired against by all of white society he made the choice and had the bravery to be born into a 2 parent high income family
You post these things and you don’t know shit about my family so it’s just sad on your end
But yes, if you answer fuck white people to each question on the final you will pass
Ok buddy, poor LBJ, he struggled all his life against the evil white people trying to hold a young black man down and stop him from graduating from Yale. YT people wanted to lock my man LBJ up but instead his parents paid for tutors, enrolled him in public schools that were well funded and raised him in areas of low violent crime even though white people tried to stop them at every corner
It’s perfectly ok to feel scared when people talk about things like systemic racism and you don’t quite understand why they talk about it
It’s cool bro, your skin color automatically grants you the perspective required to speak from a place of authority on this topic
Your skin color can also cause your perspective to be completely disregarded
But again
The transatlantic slave trade was literally the codified trading of black bodies because they were seen as lesser people than the whites despite being bigger and stronger
And then they were treated like cattle upon arriving on the shores of the new world. Bred and forced to be beasts of burden. The children were forced to breed and be beasts of burden. And so on.
But systemic racism can’t exist bro
But yes my skin color alone does indisputably give me the requisite authority to speak on this topic
