CulturedUrbanite VideoGame Selects.

A proper one of those hires should have some specialization already. If you're hiring a true generalist without this it's pretty pointless, atleast if you're not a small shop. "T shaped people" are what the BS career gurus would describe those specialists, or some other flavor of the month shape.

And you definitely wouldn't want an "I shaped" designer lol

The rest of the criticism is valid but this is a real concept that is very important when you're developing a product meant to be consumed by the mainstream

It probably matters more when the product you sell is one that people try before they pay into, like standard SaaS stuff. You can probably supply a nonfam approach given that, but it will be lost on the most brainless people consuming your game.

This is what they mean when they say that people don't know good design -- people would prefer a mediocre but similar experience to past ones over something that is different but better so designing with this in mind can matter

I agree.

Rust is a good programming language.

I prefer C

If the decision about building a mainstream game is to be made I think it should be done directly from the top and in preproduction. IMO, especially in game dev everybody should have user experience in mind. Games are meant to be fun/enjoyable after all, not sure if that's the case with products in other fields haha

thats why gamification is one of the current tech buzzwords

"game devs" have been bred into some tolkien uruk-hai type monsters within the latter half of the 2010s and should be summarily executed for the betterment of humanity.

rust isn't a programming language? you aren't a woman matticus

It's a well-conceived and promising language but it isn't widely adopted for games at the moment so you're better off using something else. You're just making things harder on yourself. Maybe that doesn't matter to you, in which case disregard my advice.

the idea is something along the lines of: can you make a bejeweled game with elements from dungeon crawling, roguelikes, etc. that utilizes the bejeweled board as sort of the dungeon layout.

I had come to the conclusion that the theme of "dungeon" or "DND" or whatever is overplayed and something like "underwater fish" would be something more interesting.
