ftl is like climbing a ladder and once you get halfway up someone shoots in you the fucking dick and you fall off. then the ladder catches on fire

@Vanilla_Town I understand how to deal damage, but how is damage to me calculated?

I wasn't trying to say that old games are better per se but rather that it was common to pioneer genres and that is much more exciting than talking about how meticulously crafted something is imo.

I might quote you if your ideas made any sense. "Bible clone" because stories hijack the mind and that is bad? Is it because the bible is a story that has inexplicably captivated millions of people and looking back at it it looks insane? What about the story of your own life? Is that a "bible clone"?

A) the narrative is inherently linear
B) the narrative is what the human brain is most attuned to understanding (specifically stories) and the existence of a bad/discontinuous narrative is evident to all people with a brain.

from there: the effects of introducing a narrative warp what is ultimately a video game: "decision-making under some large state space".
