CulturedUrbanite VideoGame Selects.

there are a multitude of other ideas surrounding this: the importance of constraints and limitations in producing interesting designs, a viewpoint of "homogeneity" through a lens of racial purity and the Amerigoblin.

i believe i have made some posts along the lines of the "video game narrative" being the absolute crudest, dumbest form of narrative there is: it is a story that requires little to no pacing (a player can start/stop, take longer to play, and is completely distracted by required physical events). With the death of novels and reading, video games have taken the reigns of "hurr durr I want a story" for a mass amount of the mouth breathing lowest common denominator public.

ultimately if Matticus starts "repeating" my ideas they will just become more low status and likely to be wrong. I myself would not speak them out loud, for I am not worthy of them.

I can only name two games I've enjoyed the narrative of in the last decade; Obra Dinn and Outer Wilds - both because of the unique way they're told.
Other "games" just do it because they can add it on top of any mediocre product.

I need at least 40lbs on my frame before I start talking about bible clones to randoms.

I would make linear ass JRPGs if I had my way

I need to blow up a federal building McVeigh style and then publish a screed on "STORAGE SPACE AS A CRUTCH FOR REPLICATING COMPLEX SYSTEMS"

Everyone in the State of California must be Killed in order to avoid the Wrath of God.

hardened killer alert

I liked the narrative in the game Inside.

That game has no narrative.

Very few Christians have read the bible. It was barely relevant in the height of its popularity and now that it's waning it's less relevant than ever. It's shockingly antiquated and unrelatable. What does "Job rent his mantle" even mean?

someone should just make game recreations of 1800s russian literature if you want to have a "narrative" in your video game

what you're saying is no different than "we need to let women be church officials" and "gay sex is actually okay" in regards to modern apologetics

You want art? make a detective style game that is the adventures of sherlock holmes and the only text/"dialogue" in the game is verbatim from the book.

gay sex is frankly never okay

pre 1980 a man could go his entire life without seeing gay shit (actual gay intercourse)

nowadays? lol

Makes no difference to me

I'm more upset by two people being happy than their preference
