I think I understand what you're saying here.
Do you mean that, for example, a game like DCSS has a lot of "Atmosphere" but no "Story/Narrative"?

I would argue that atmosphere is predominantly sound/music over visuals, but humans naturally prioritize sights over sounds in terms of sensory input.

obviously: there is basically no story whatsoever to DCSS. It is complete inconsequential.

Umineko in a nutshell really

that's fine: that's pretty far from language.

Some people could go "There's a lot of backstory to the Elven Halls actually"

it'd be like walking through an abandoned building at night and getting scared: "wow this building has a really creepy story".

there is no "story" that drives anything within DCSS.

Oh I know. I'm saying that some games/consumers try to make a story and narrative out of abandoned buildings, like all the ■■■■■■■■ Darksouls Lore youtubers for example.
It's very contrived and honestly kinda gross.

I am not one to argue semantics of words: but you're building something where the parts make up something different than the whole. I largely look at this process through subtraction rather than addition.

There could be an implied story given the arrangement of things inside of the building.

fuck off. you do not get an innate sense of fear because you think of an exposition, plot, characters, whatever. you deserve to suffer.

@Vanilla_Town beat a run on 1 hull last night. derped and got all my power trapped in cloaking and hacking while all my weapons but my bl2 got knocked out. mistimed my backup battery which expired right when weapons we're repaired. cloaking and absurdly lucky dodges carried

when I think of matticus with his mishapen body in women's clothing I really think about the grand tale that finally resulted in this event occurring.

do you people go through life doing the sitcom trope of "well you might be wondering how I got here?"

I have never beaten FTL. I did however finish Into the Breach with all the base teams or whatever.

the flagship fight is cool the first few times but it becomes a weak point of the game after you realize it doesn't play by the rules and its gimmicks make some systems almost mandatory

I've talked a lot to matticus on teamspeak and he never sounded like someone who was mishapen or in women's clothing.
I would've never assumed either of those things if you hadn't told me - Do you have a reliable source?
