Curse of Strahd

@Dosha, right? What do you bring to the table during combat? Mukk is a loose cannon with that manpatty so close to his ears.

rests her hand on the hilt of the rapier tucked in her belt and glances around the surroundings occasionally while looking at AA

@Mukk @Brendan

You begin dashing down the road, it curves right but you keep going straight. Behind, you hear the voice of @Athllorantier laughing maniacally.

The foul scent leads you to a human corpse half-buried in the underbrush about fifteen feet from the road. The young man appears to be a commoner. His muddy clothes are torn and raked with claw marks. Crows have been at the body, which is surrounded by the paw prints. The man has obviously been dead for several days. He holds a crumpled envelope in one hand.

Mukk kicks the body in the ass to make extra sure he’s dead

rolls her eyes as AA begins to cackle.

We done here then? she says to him and stalks after Mukk and Brendan

@Mukk

The body is cold and does not move when kicked.

Mukk waits for the other people to arrive as he is extremely disinterested in the corpse beyond its smell

@Fade

You manage to catch up to Mukk, watching him kick a corpse that is half-buried. The corpse holds a crumpled envelope in one hand.

eyes Mukk and frowns at his lacking intellect. With a sigh she squats down and carefully removes the crumpled letter and checks the seal before opening and reading…

letter_2

Hail thee of might and valor,

I, the Burgomeister of Barovia, send you honor - with despair. My adopted daughter, the fair Ireena Kolyana, has been these past nights bitten by a vampyr. For over four hundred years, this creature has drained the life blood of my people. Now my dear Ireena languishes and dies from an unholy wound caused by this vile beast. He has become too powerful to conquer.

So I say to you, give us up for dead and encircle this land with the symbols of good. Let holy men call upon their power that the devil may be contained within the walls of weeping Barovia. Leave our sorrows to our graves, and save the world from this evil fate of ours.

There is much wealth entrapped in this community. Return for your reward after we are all departed for a better life.

Kolyan Indirovich
Burgomeister

her face grows suddenly pensive and after reflecting a moment on the contents she reads the words aloud, to Mukk and Brendan, in a clear voice. Upon finishing she begins to examine the body’s wounds more closely to discern cause of death and other peculiarities

We will need the goblin and the prankster to look at this body, as well. Perhaps Yzark has some good tracking and investigative abilities.

The letter says we should return when they are all dead to retrieve the wealth. Should we go back to the tavern and wait for all the vampyres to clear out?

fade turns to Brendan and says in a dry tone Do you have the necessary Magic’s to lay down wards that would kill and contain ancient vampires…?

Besides, this sounds more like a trap.

Going back is a trap? Going forward might be a trap. I say we go back, wait several years for the vamps to leave, and then come back and do the adventure.

dismisses Brendan from her thoughts for the moment

They said to wait for the holy men for a reason. Creatures like that…they don’t just “clear out”. They get removed or they linger. Do you want to push them out because I don’t know if we’re the right team for that kinda job!

Mukk think we should keep going before get dark.

AA Changes back to his true form in front of everyone’s eyes

Hahah! I’m just messing with you, Mukk! You should’ve seen your face! And Brendan’s!

Athole can lead way

Ted finds his way through the light wooding to the site of the corpse and his fellow party members.

“A corpse? And a letter?”

He reads the letter briefly.

“Well, does anyone have a wooden stake?”
