kind of, we're just talking about as simple as selling art. you get commissioned to do a single piece and you'll never receive funding beyond the payment. in this meme technology royalties can be anything from 0-10% of a secondary transaction and if your work is highly valued it's a great way to sustain yourself and grow your passion

i was going to relate it to fiat currency but it's not really like that considering governments play a large part in controlling that market

it becomes easier to envision any of this stuff when you step away from the ugly monkey crap and instead look at like csgo skins as these kinds of assets instead
me and the boys bought a bunch of warhammer minis for dnd and paid a guy to paint them. he did such a good job on the skaven and tzeentch demons we all chipped in and doubled his pay. if forget what he was charging but the work he did was worth way more than what it cost

i mean that's a cooler idea. i've never spent money on any cosmetics in a game besides buying the sawed off kraken because it has a fucking kraken on it. if there were only one of it and ridiculously expensive i might not but at least you have the backup of valve servers instead of risking it with some randos in jakarta

no one said there had to be only one of anything or that refunds couldn't happen in the future for this stuff either. Server wise valve is probably much more likely to be compromised than a refined decentralized system made for this stuff
