To clarify the argument was because instead of improving his understanding of the topic when I provided new info he dug in on all of his original assumptions, which were fairly nonsensical, then googled to try and "prove" the things he was saying rather than just reading about the topic. So ill-formed argument went on for like a week

but the change between me working hard and not working hard has very low impact overall on society when split among everybody. i argue that in many cases this change is smaller than the benefit i selfishly get from slacking off. and when everybody else is working hard and life is good, maybe i innocuously might want to slack off a bit because i really dont think its a big deal! but what if everybody thinks that way...?

How does breaking the windows of a bank change anything? How do you keep a factory running once you've seized and occupied it?

The thing you missed was that I was opposed to police violence before you even had heard of the issue.
