China is very corrupt, but America is just more corrupt. This is basically the same problems that people in the USSR had, they kept looking at America with these beer goggles because they were so hyper-focused on how fucking incompetent the government was at that time, but it's not like America wasn't without its flaws.
All I am saying is as someone who has actually been to Asia for a long period of time traveling around different countries, it is very corrupt over there and your belief that things are better in China is comical you would change your mind within 2-3 months living there when you realize just how big the gap is between what you perceive life to be like over there vs the reality.

The most fascinating thing about China to me is how little they have to be engaged in politics. The lack of participatory government means they have no reason to give a shit about politics broadly. It is an uncomfortable idea, but worth thinking about. Is it liberating just giving in to the authoritarianism or worth it to get so caught up in politics as an ordinary person?
Some of us dont want to be hugged with a 5 day work week. I worked 7 days per week for much of the last decade and have studied for 7 days per week while in school. This 4 or 5 day shit sounds awful to me.

I think food that slowly kills you over time with lead or arsenic should be free and provided as a service by the government. It's the least we can do because no American child in this country should go to bed hungry.
You think a lot of Americans engage in politics but you're wrong. I would bet more than half of the people can't even name the vice president and like less than 25% would be able to name the house speaker. That's a mega disconnected populace but that's just how they function. It takes critical thinking skills to analyze and process news, but if you recall most people in this country lack that based on cognitive tests they've taken.
In a more general sense, people are people and their behaviors as humans generally repeat across broad groups (chinese, blacks, Europeans, Americans) so what that means is it is not like country X has a more engaged populace than country Y unless it was by systematic design, not by natural flow because the average person doesn't have the attention or interest to keep up with everything that's going on.
So a country with no national elections, and all the campaigning that goes with it, will have a population just as politically engaged as one that does? Just wanna get that claim clear.

My trading bot has finally come to fruition. I have a bot which backtest for approximately 100k over 4 years, and it made 13k in holdout of 6 months.
Fantastic on only OHLCV data.
I am now in the process of building the infrastructure to have it run headless and on its own in the cloud on a e2 micro instance so I don't have to babysit and monitor the operations, it is already sending me telegram messages so I can remotely observe the status, and built a lot of the infrastructure to migrate to the cloud. Once it's up there, I can run this bot, then begin augmenting the processing with more models and execution features to try to stack alpha.
Once I have fully built out the entire pipeline I will begin experimenting on building more models for crude oil on the 4 hour and 1 day bars, and also grab price data for other futures like natural gas, gold, and possibly forex as well to see if I can train a model for each of those.
It took me almost a fucking year but I kept at it. The back tests are legit, no leakage. I validated the parity of execution between the back tester and the live trader as well.
This essentially means after 1-2 months of paper trading if my bot performs up to par I am going to move it to live trade so it can begin rupturing real money by identifying all of the problems I missed that weren't captured in paper trading and we can start the entire cycle again
