Evidence, p-values, statistical plausibility, they all suck. Nobody is sharing their methods, their raw data, or their fudging of said data that lets them come up with their model. This, coupled with the idea that you need fresh or new discoveries to get published in Nature, not just a reproduced experiment.
The bigger issue at the time was the whole scientific racism present in the sciences, people still haven’t recovered to analyzing individuals as blank slates, products of their environment.

I’d say more right-wing talking points center around a personality being this immutable thing your DNA dictates and the left wing talking points are more along the lines of people’s situations giving rise to their personas. I think JP followers prefer the former to the latter.
