Problem with the defensive pleas of the psychedelic movement - they lack âsense of consequence.â One observes instead, what appears as a glaring lack of conscience - in calls and pulpit-pounding sloganizing, bandying âset and setting, set and settingâ like magic words. Lip service isnât exactly a protocol or method of accomplishing anything, it doesnât confer safety - nor does it intend to, it comes off as defensive rationalization.
Neither does such protest theater even know what the issues are, on clear impression. Nor is it a form of inquiry.
Otherwise, such rhetoric might explain, to its own thinking - what exactly are the risks for a tripper, that some âsitterâ is supposedly able to magically avert? Weâre not talking about Wavy Gravy at Woodstockâs âbad trip tentâ either. To imply or suggest for âsafetyâ sake, like its a foregone conclusion - that tripping is safe, provided you got some professional specialist in one of the medical and pharmaceutical consortium of industries overseeing â rather than a less clinical more personal context with caring nonspecialists? Like, e.g. friends or family of long trusted acquaintance and deeply known quantity who know you a helluva lot better than some âtherapeuticâ job worker in his career, punched in on duty?
Tuning into psychedeliaâs 24/7 broadcast - one discovers a fascinating in fact often acrimonious conflict over the very idea. The movement that canât get its own story straight on this. Itd get picked apart under cross exam, like Thanksgiving turkey. No wonder it avoids question. Psychonauts on one side protest the very idea of âsittersâ or approved policies, as authoritarian interference with their âcognitive libertyâ - they denounce it, as MAPS-spearheaded, for implicitly medicalizing infantilizing trippers - grown ups and can choose their own place and time to trip. And donât need to have no stinkinâ badges from authorities, saying its ok with white smocked administrators of the sacrament, for them to trip at facilities where they can do so with govt permission.
While the rest of psychedelia, cheering MAPS etc - approves the âtrip sitterâ govt-approval medicalization as - strategy. Its seen as the Great White Hope, best laid plan for recovering ground fumbled in the Leary era (before laws against LSD) - to get those damn laws against psychedelics off the books. So the âexperience can be made more widely available to more peopleâ âŠ
Its a fascinating fogbound internal subcultural embroglio. The same radiantly âinspiredâ interests that cry out for âserious studyâ or psychedelics and their effects, yet oppose the very idea - if research were to study risks and hazards - things that might give pause. For the purpose of the movementâs Clear Intent, all research (as it cries out for) must focus exclusively thru the narrow lens of âbenefits and prospective therapeutic applications.â
Its funny that those crying out for more research, lamenting none for âfour decadesâ until the "renaissance"or Advent) - yet defiantly oppose âwrong typeâ research. They are frightened by prospects of any study asking questions that could adduce reasons for taking pause. Questions that wonât be televised include: How come trippers from Leary and Manson, to the McKennae etc - display this âlack of consequenceâ? Whatâs the cultic cliquish thing about - almost like people who âget Jesusâ suddenly donât want to talk about anything else (its gotta be in âthe right toneâ too, all wide eyed, not just right topic) - what the hell is that about?
Such questions, no matter how they glare in our face - will never be admitted to the ârenaissanceâsâ court, never to get a hearing - much less study. Only exciting âpromisingâ questions are allowed, the rest need not apply. Theyâre for sweeping under the rug before they can even be realized. As relates to the visionary aspects of consciousness and psychedelic effects - what is the origins of religious fanaticism, as a general social and ideological phenomenon? What is its potential? And, what are we seeing in the psychedelic movement, as ties in? Accordingly -what might we predict, need to be prepared for as a society? By the pricking of our thumbs - what exactly this way comes, courtesy of psychedelia, from its messiahs to its medicinal missionaries?
Research since 2006 has conclusively verified the âprimary mysticalâ effects of psilocybin (in 2 out of 3 subjects), of religious conversionary force and personal intensity - âlife alteringâ to borrow from its press releases. Mystical consciousness is a major Variety of Religious Experience, as definitively investigated by William James. The medicalizing âparadigmâ seems unable to comprehend, or perhaps has no interest in - broader cultural and societal impact. There seems a strange mime or silent rule, that only the individual who takes the drug is affected by it - since theyâre the point of its action. The unstated premise seems to be - thereâs no social consequence or ramifications. There is no culturogenic impact. As if thereâs no such thing, well documented in ethnography - as whole traditions originating thus. No such thing for example as - peyotism, just peyote and its effects. And no such thing as cults emerging in our midst, from Mansonites to the McKennaâs Witnesses.
Saying âpsychedelics donât have alcoholâs bad effectsâ - or any diversionary tactics or digression from issue, canât address - issue, nor does it try. And it canât sweep questions under the rug, as it seems to attempt. It common recourse when question arises. But it only comes off defensive, in the process - worsening the impression of something dubious afoot, in fact suspicious - like fanaticism.
The ârenaissanceâ seems stuck to a âLa La Laâ script - incorrigible. Until and unless its voices, its advocacy honestly and forthrightly addresses issues of broader impact - not âbad tripsâ but cultism society has witnessed emerging from tripperdom since the 1960s - the Bold New Psychedelic Push, declaring the medical virtues and urgent need etc will continue to âinspireâ doubts - just not in those âon board.â From other corners of society, all around - it will continue to face questions of doubt not faith. Especially, the more denial and defensive defiance psychedelic promotion issues - the more questions arise about its credibility. Rightly so. Not just as a matter of results of studies, research as its Means. More fundamentally, questions of - intent, manifest to ulterior. Or as police call it: Motive.
dont do to many drugs.
I know quite a few drugged up burn outs, the truth is everyone is suffering so hard that they are turning to drugs, and other recreational activities that serve no purpose toward the goals of success that they dont realize that if they become freer from their vices they will have more time to become more successful and suffer less. Most of these people went to college, did okay, got a basic job, now owe a ton of money that they see no hope of paying off.
TBH student loans are fucked up scam, and the fact that they legally cannot be forgiven by law is even more fucked up. I feel bad for anyone still paying student loans or anyone who took student loans and did not realize the consequences.
A lot of ya who hate what im saying these days owe mad student loans so i feel ya, you gotta feel like the money you owe now was worth it, so you just believe all that SJW/marxist bullshit they taught you.
Srudent loans are much better than regular loans. As long as you have no income you can continue deferring. Also dota is a vice so wjat point are you really making here about drug users lmao
If anything you should do drugs instead of dota because youll gain way more time for puposeful activities dude. Thats why only poors play doto
what the fuck
nobody should ever do drugs u mong itâs one of the worst vices you could have
Yeah but nobody should ever play dota so i guess its about equal
Xanax makes you feel like nothing could touch you. It letâs you feel like you can reach your full potential. It makes you feel like all your worries have been flushed out of your mind. You can think clearly, move freely. It helps you be you .
But these feelings are fake. Theyâre a short term fix for a long term problem. I realized it was a problem when I almost flunked out of college due to sleeping 24/7.
2 months ago I stumbled across a Vice documentary on this man named Wim Hof. It talked about how his wife had committed suicide, leaving him in a state of deep depression and mental trauma. To combat this, he went to the extreme.
He broke 26 world records involving the longest time in an ice bath and climbed Mount Everest in nothing but his shorts. He has proven in laboratory settings that he has self control over the Vagus nerve (dealing with the Immune and Endocrine systems) through breathing, meditation, and the cold. Some would say heâs a freak of nature, but Wim Hof says that anyone can do what he is doing.
So what does this have to do with my Xanax addiction? I decided to try it out. (From 4-5mg a day, I tapered down over the course of a few weeks first)
Day 1 Off Xanax: Now I normally take extremely hot showers so I wonât lie when I say I cried as I was taking an ice cold shower. It felt like needles in my skin and my whole body was shaking. The breathing exercises are very calming and help with the benzo cravings and anxiety.
Present day: I havenât had a benzo in 2 months and I absolutely love the cold. I take two cold showers a day and look forward to them. I meditate and breathe twice a day. I havenât even gotten sick in these 2 months, which is crazy for me during allergy season. My mental state feels as if I can do anything, except I donât need a pill to make me feel this way.
Thank you for reading this far, Iâm sharing for all those who might need help. I love you all!
