Yes, I agree with Jones too, those games are deeply flawed - the issue is that he can't separate the audience from game, and cannot separate the narrative of the game from its gameplay either.
The biggest issue with Jones is his consistent loud usage of logical fallacies, and whenever you try to argue against it - you instantly become a strawman in his mind that is trying to make his imaginary children (he will never have children) transexual.

There is utility in people's (Jones') misconceptions. Perhaps developers are spending too much money on graphics and not investing enough in deeper gameplay mechanics.
