This argument is extremely flawed. It is quite the leap to say that the absence of pleasure is “not bad”, but absence of pain is “good”. Things are either bad, good, or neutral. If things don’t exist then they are nothing. The absence of pain is just the absence of pain. The absence of pleasure is just the absence of pleasure. To a conscious being that can experience pleasure and pain the absence of pleasure “is bad” in a subjective moral sense. If things don’t exist then they can’t be seen to have any moral value. A being that doesn’t exist can’t have moral weight and therefore that being that doesn’t exist can’t have moral weight of pain “being bad”.
