well there's apparently 2000 speakers of it -- and they're all moving to America.
I would respect Huber way more if he was at Eagle Pass helping those that speak "the language of the avocado" onto American welfare rather than being a low-tier physiognomy sexpat.
Thank you for the post.
I think you are on to something here.
Those follow my thoughts exactly.
I wish I could be a sexpat but I aint attractive and have no sex
At work staring at manam and
the center thing with feet written must be a significant mountain that affects the way they refer to direction, so I translated cardinal directions based on the bottom houses, and the ones above will use the terms different relative to that mountain. I will write up a guess when I can get to a pen and paper.
Finally got around to Lalala
Now I can go back and read all of your discussions around this one
your answers are wrong and your handwriting sucks
Was trying to verify your answers but the handwriting is illegible to me
AlrightvI figured out the key to Manam confidently, but the only evidence really is sentence 4
Summary
The + is a North Star, so the sentences use cardinal directions standing between the two locations with the + as North. D is to the East relative to the bottom houses, but when compared in sentence 4, it becomes west. Bingo.
So,
A: Pita B: Butokang C: Sulung D: Tola E: Sala
Arongo pera kana awa ieno, Pita pera kana awa ieno.
Arongo pera kana ilau ieno, Butokang pera kana auta ieno.
Arongo pera kana ata ilau ieno, Sulung pera kana awa auta ieno.
Shitty notes:
Alightsoul is writing on a touch screen, and that always looks bad. But my writing is legit illegible and I have long accepted it.
Went back and checked Huber's and Nyte's answers against the solution
We all basically got it with mine having the most errors (mixing up verb tenses basically)
Here's the official answer. Funnily, they are actually wrong - they mix up the word for corn with the word for pineapple on the last line.
I typed those Manam answers rushed on my phone without handwriting them first so I hope I didn't fuck it up. I wanna be done with that one already.
Yeah this is the trick to Manam - I encourage everyone to not read it and instead try to figure it out themself because I spoiled myself by going to the solution after my first half-assed attempt and as a result missed the opportunity to discover this. I think it's quite cool
I was more correct than the Olympiad answers? lol
We all were actually. I was like "wow both Nyte and Huber got this one word wrong, what was it again?" and then realized they had just used the wrong word for corn
They put a lot of corn on pizza here in Japan. Not pineapple though.
Also funnily on Manam your initial cities (ABCD etc) were all correct, but I didn't want to say that in case it interfered in some way with your solving of the puzzle - you hadn't actually solved but had somehow accidentally got the right answer lol
I was just doing process of elimination. And I think I looked at them as A B C from left to right lol
2 more left in the "Medium" set
Icelandic Kinship and Manam are 2 of 5 in the "Hard"
Currently open: Icelandic Kinship and Basque Numbers
I can add 1 more medium if people need something to work on overnight. But I am late for an appointment in bed
