it's a very different game which i respect but has certainly turned a lot of veterans away from playing (not that dd1 early access was a good game either)
I'll definitely try DD2 sooner or later then - you've convinced me.
My favorite part of DD1 (and this is a cliched opinion I admit) is how stressful the game was not for the characters, but for me - it accomplished its goal very well to create a very unique experience. The combat was alright too.
dd2 has me even more stressed than the original maybe because your roster is it for the run (you can pickup randos at inns after each biome but they are set otherwise) but also because stress ramps up faster in that can affect your heroes barks in and out of combat before an affliction would set in and cause your team to start hating each other. like i said it needs some tuning in that aspect but it's much more of an us against lovecraftian horrors vibe compared to just grinding up a new set of heroes after you get shellacked on a run
