Your post said exactly what my post said but yeah IAAFR only says that because he spent like 10 years posting on "RationalWiki.com forums" or something. He's run thru
Truth is there is no point in doing anything on the internet, it is all just for entertainment. So if it is entertaining to you, then it is worthwhile
i mean my shtick was always (still is, but just more weary) trying to have a perspective thats like one layer more meta or one layer more nuanced than whatever current argument plays out in any given thing in hopes of finding some way to make the impasses less like impasses
failed mostly for the most part or at best got some acknowledgement but it doesnt matter because people still keep circling around back to where they were
The first internet community thing I was involved in was an AOL chat about Yoyos. We had a Yoyo guy come to school and he taught us the AOL keyword Yomega. From there it was DragonballZ RPing on AOL. I think after that was a guitar/metal forum mxtabs.net and sometime during this I started playing dota. Then I went to the arcade for the first time and found the shoryuken forums. I think next was nadota.
I don't remember well but I bet people were the same insufferable debate nerds in a yoyo chat, except we still used words like pwn and newb back then so it was probably way funnier.
